17 months

I cannot believe Jacob is 17 months! Time goes by so fast.

This is Jake a year ago. We actually left for Germany the day he was 5 months for the Christmas holidays.

This is Jake today! It was really hard to get him to stay still. I can't believe how much he's grown.

Jake's is 23.6lbs!!! and I would guess about 31 inches. He's wearing a size 4 diaper. He's still squeezes into some 12 month clothing, but for the most part is wearing 18 months.

Jake's new words are "more", "up", "dodo", "papa" (that's what he calls me dad), "bye-bye", and "yes".

Jake's loves all food. His favorite snacks are raisins and blueberries. He also loves just about any type of pasta. He has to have supper at 530pm, or else he gets cranky and starts asking for food.

He's sleeping great. He goes to bed at 7pm, gets up around 8am, and takes a two hour nap everyday.

Jake's favorite toys are his push truck and his mega blocks.

Happy 17 months Jake!

I let Jake climb the couch just so I could take a picture. I love the monkey on his butt!

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

Monday is daycare day! Jake walked from the car to the door at daycare, walked right in, then went straight to the playroom without a look back! He's doing great there, his teachers think he's very independent and are amazed at how much he eats!

It was snowing here in Germany today, which means the roads are bad and full of bad drivers doing 20km/h. I took advantage to bring Jake outside and play. We were originally going to visit the horses across the street from the house, but by the time I got us all organized to go out, the owners had brought them inside. We settled with playing in the backyard. Jake loves to eat snow, he's not too great at walking in his snowsuit, but it's pretty funny to see him try!

He lasted about half an hour outside, then he decided it was time to go in! He was very good at playing with his toys on his own while I was making supper. (Enchiladas night again!) He loves his truck and Andrew was pushing him around in it today, he found that really funny!

Here are some pictures from playing in the snow. Also a few from inside, he was wearing one of my favorite outfits today!

Turkey Dinner! Yummy!

I should know this by now. You'd think I would learn.
Last night, I went to check on Jake before I went to bed around 11pm. I do this every night. Well, last night, Jake woke up the second I opened the door. Oh crap! An hour and a half of crying, screaming, screeching, one bottle, some puffs, some water, some cuddles, and trying to play followed before he finally fell back asleep around 1230.
Never again!

Luckily, Jake slept in this morning, we got up around 845am. We had breakfast, then watched a lot of football with my dad! We also played with toys. We had grilled cheese for lunch, Jake had a long nap while I went shopping with my dad. Andrew had an easy time babysitting, Jake didn't even wake up from his nap!

I made a turkey dinner for supper..well, dad took care of the turkey, but I did the rest. It was yummy! We got a boneless butterball turkey and it turned out great. Jake ate everything and even had seconds of mashed potatoes.

All in all, a great Sunday. Football and turkey!

This is what Jacob does when I'm in the kitchen or he's hungry. He doesn't have access to the kitchen, so he begs at the gate. Normally he says "more" when he's hungry.

Dad and Jake watching football!

Eating a yummy turkey dinner! He ate everything, plus extra mashed potatoes.

I loved Harry Potter!

It was fabulous. But now, I can't wait for the second part, it'll be intense.

Jake was fabulous this morning. He let me sleep in until 830am. According to my dad, he was awake at 7am just babbling and talking to himself. But he must of fallen back asleep at one point, I am not complaining!

It was chilly this morning! There was frost on the ground, we still went for our walk, but it takes a lot longer to get ready! Jake wore his winter pants and winter jacket. Andrew calls them his fat pants. It is pretty funny to see him waddling around.

We spent the afternoon playing in the living room. Jake loves his push truck and he loves putting his toys on the couch to play with.

We had turkey burgers for supper, Jake liked his a little too much. He took huge bites, then got mad when we wouldn't let him take more bites until he swallowed. Then he pouted and tried to cry with a mouthful. Not a great combination.

I've tried twice to upload pictures, it's just not working. I'll try again later. :)

Harry Potter Tonight!!

I can't wait.
This post has nothing to do with Jake. I don't even have pictures of him, we got up, he went to daycare, we came home, he had a bottle, and he's still napping.

He is saying a new word pretty consistently, he says UP! when he wants us to pick him up or if he wants up on the couch. It's cute.

Oh, and when he says no, he shakes his finger too. It's adorable!

That's it for today!! I'm beyond excited. I'll post extra pictures tomorrow, I promise! :)

Happy American Thanksgiving!

Happy American Turkey Day!

We didn't go outside today, it's was too drizzly and cold. Instead, Jake and I played inside. He likes to tear everything apart, then play. He's been playing with his mega block farm he got for his birthday all day long. He likes to bring it to the couch and play with it from there. It's pretty cute.

We went to a party tonight at my parent's friend's house. There were a few birthdays this week, we had some yummy food and ice cream cake. Jake love the cake! He did really well, especially considering we were leaving when it's normally his bedtime.

Oh, and can I just say, I'm going to see Harry Potter tomorrow night and I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Wednesday Shopping

Today was shopping day! In the morning, I braved the German streets without a GPS and only directions from my dad. Turns out, they were good directions and I didn't get lost once...just a slight detour, but I knew where I was the entire time, so that doesn't count as lost. Oh, we went to a German grocery store to pick up some ice cream for Andrew. He got his wisdom teeth out and is eating a lot of ice cream.

This afternoon, we went to the American Base to go grocery shopping with my dad. Jake is so good at the grocery store, he sits, looks around, and is a complete angel. A lady working at the store gave him a banana, which he proceeded to devour.

We stopped by Burger King on the way home. Jake ate almost an entire kids meal. He had all four chicken nuggets and about a 1/3 of his fries. I'm scared to think how much he'll eat when he's 5 if he's eating this much at 17 months!!

And like everyday...just kidding. The internet is being a pain tonight. I'll try uploading the pictures again later.

Tomorrow morning, the internet is finally working better!

Catnapping

Catnaps drive me bananas! Incidentally, we had whole wheat banana pancakes for breakfast and they were a big hit!

I had a dentist appointment at 1pm, right at the beginning of Jake's nap. Of course, he fell asleep in the car, but only for the last five minutes. He woke up the second I opened the door of the car, and didn't fall back asleep in his stroller.

Unfortunately, the dentist appointment was canceled. By the time we made it back home, it was too late to put him down for a nap. I swear, if this kid falls asleep for 5 minutes in the car, it's over. He's ready to go!

On the plus side, he went to bed a little early.

We got the boxes I packed before leaving. Now Jake has a whole bunch more toys, he was glad to see them. Especially a little keyboard which is a little too interactive for my taste...and might "get loss" soon.

Here are a few pictures of him on his truck.

Peek-a-boo!

We had a pretty good day. It was low-key for me.
Jake had daycare this morning. I go to the gym while he's in daycare, I'm getting better at driving, I actually came home after my workout today to shower and relax instead of reading in the car or change room!

Jake is doing great at daycare, he plays really well with the other kids. Today, he played with a ball.

He had a three hour nap when we got home, we played, had supper, then he played with his grandpa, bath, bottle, then bed.

Now, I'm getting ready to watch Big Bang Theory with my dad, he's still on season 3!

Here are today's pictures,

Helping mommy clean!

Today was our last day alone. I can't say I'm too sad, it's nice to have company again.

I kept Jake up until 8pm so he could see everyone before going to bed. He better not get used to it!

We cleaned the living room and kitchen today. Well, I cleaned, but Jake "helped". Since my parents have glass coffee tables, you can bet they are constantly covered in little finger prints. I used the windex wipes and they work great!

My mom also bought a Swiffer Vaccum, it's a great buy. We use it all the time, especially after Jake has eaten a meal.

That's all I got for today.
